Day 1: Arrival in Kigali Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt for a brief city tour to explore Kigali’s vibrant markets and historical sites. Day 2: Kigali – Butare – Nyungwe Forest National Park After breakfast, depart for Butare (Huye), Rwanda’s cultural hub. Visit the National Museum to gain insights into Rwanda’s rich history and culture. Continue to Nyanza to explore the King’s Palace, a reconstruction of the traditional royal residence. In the afternoon, proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park, a haven for primates and endemic flora. Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest Rise early for an exhilarating chimpanzee trekking experience. Nyungwe Forest is home to a significant population of chimpanzees and other primates. After the trek, you may choose to embark on an optional waterfall hike or visit the Angolan Black Colobus monkeys. Day 4: Nyungwe Forest Exploration Today, select one of the following activities to further explore Nyungwe’s wonders: • Canopy Walk: Experience a thrilling walk on a suspended bridge, offering panoramic views of the forest canopy. • Nature Walk: Discover the diverse flora and fauna on guided forest trails. • Bird Watching: Spot some of the 300 bird species that inhabit the park. Day 5: Nyungwe Forest – Kibuye (Lake Kivu) Depart Nyungwe and travel to Kibuye, a picturesque town on the shores of Lake Kivu. Relax by the lake, take a leisurely walk along the shore, or opt for an optional boat trip to explore nearby islands and fishing villages. Day 6: Kibuye – Volcanoes National Park After breakfast, journey north to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. En route, enjoy the scenic landscapes and consider visiting local communities to learn about traditional Rwandan life. Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking adventure. After a briefing at the park headquarters, hike through the forest to locate a gorilla family. Spend an awe-inspiring hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Day 8: Volcanoes National Park – Kigali After breakfast, return to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or shop for souvenirs at local markets. Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
